Role: Lead Spatial and Experiential Designer at Grande Experiences
Location: The LUME, Melbourne
Brief: Design the spatial and experiential environments for a multi-room immersive exhibition celebrating the 500-year legacy of Leonardo da Vinci, integrating digital projections, interactive technology, artisan recreations, and rare original manuscripts into a cohesive visitor journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designed Renaissance-inspired entrance archway with large lightboxes introducing key exhibition themes.
- Created "Father of Flight" installation displaying artisan-built replicas of da Vinci's flying machines against animated cloud projections on ceiling-hung LED panels.
- Developed four distinct exploration experiences: Pascal Cotte collaboration revealing hidden layers beneath the Mona Lisa, chronological painting gallery, large-format anatomy sketch displays, and AR-enabled Vitruvian Man interactive.
- Organised machine recreation displays across five categories with strategic visitor flow management.
- Designed museum-grade display room for original Codex Atlanticus manuscripts on loan from Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milan, working with display specialists to create climate-controlled cabinets with strategic lighting to create atmosphere of intimacy and reverence.
Outcome: Delivered a multi-sensory journey connecting audiences with da Vinci's contributions to art, science, and innovation. The exhibition wove together AR interactions, artisan recreations, and rare original manuscripts across a carefully considered visitor flow, culminating in the Codex Atlanticus room as the climactic moment of the experience.
