Brief: Develop a site-specific installation concept for Vivid Sydney 2022's 'nature' theme at Hicksons Road Reserve. Create a proposal that explores humanity's relationship with nature in an urban context, addressing how built environments can integrate with natural settings whilst engaging Sydney's iconic harbour landscape. Compete for selection in one of the world's largest festivals of light, music, and ideas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Led concept development for Reflection, interpreting the 'nature' theme through dematerialisation rather than literal natural imagery.
  • Developed philosophical framework exploring how light and reflection can dissolve boundaries between built and natural environments.
  • Designed mirrored prism embedded at angle with circular cutout for visitor interaction, strategically positioned to frame Sydney Opera House within natural park setting.
  • Integrated lighting and atmospheric fog elements to create immersive moments inviting contemplation of urban-nature relationships.
  • Produced conceptual design, visualisations, and site-specific proposal for competition submission.

Outcome: Shortlisted for Vivid Sydney 2022 among highly competitive field.
